No doubt someone is mumbling, “This guy needs to think a little more about his spelling.” I admit that I did it to get your attention. Don’t turn me off just yet. One who does not practice analytical thinking is quite ignorant, has a disorder, is victim of a rebellious spirit, or has been indoctrinated and brainwashed. Those who fail to determine truth and seek solid answers lose out, are a poor influence, or merely egotistically impressed with their own obsessions.
How does this apply to you and me as humans, especially if we claim to be God’s people, and followers of the Christ? Can we define the uniqueness of what we believe and in whom we put our trust? Other people believe in certain things or ancient personalities. So, what’s the dif? Do you reckon they do rational thinking? Do they take time to do analytical and inquisitive thinking?
Of course, if you’ve been brainwashed with radical, even destructive indoctrination, no one expects any more of you. Weigh issues and influences. How about the people who demand abhorrent beliefs and actions, only to threaten and be abusive? Or, how about those whose beliefs are merely self-pleasing and ego-building? Harmful and shallow, right?
Serious questions are in order. Is what I’m following and putting my trust in positive or negative? Are its fruits beneficial and producing hope for others, and not just me? What governs our thinking and co-existence with other humanity? Is any deist belief I have loving and redemptive, or totalitarian and vengeful? Is it producing welcome change and strength in and through my life?
The victorious answer to these and similar questions is only found in our great and wondrous God, Jehovah, and clearly deployed by His Son, Jesus Christ. How could we be so blessed to know and follow Him? In Him we know better than to repeatedly seek our own rewards. We know better than to follow the dictates of fallible men, or philosophical utterances of notables of the past. We know better than to satisfy ourselves with counterfeits which have no righteousness and eternal foundation. No religion or ism can come anywhere close to our one, true living God! No philosophical belief or system of discipline has the flawless power whose foundation and whose essence pure love which seeks to bless, not frighten and wreak pain and death.
From whom and about whom was it said that, “In Him we live, and move and have our being”? (Acts 17:28)
